Livelihoods

The WELL foundation Livelihoods Project

Give a Man a fish he will eat for a day, Teach him to fish he will eat for a lifetime

Empowering the poor by supporting their income-generating activities.

The Income Generating Programme helps poor families to set up income generating activities based on their skills and availability of local resources. In case of lack of skills and resources the programme also helps family members by providing training to enhance their skills.

Through trained social mobilisers local resources are explored to create livelihood opportunities and generate income on a sustainable basis.

The income generating activities include setting up small grocery shops, vegetable and fruit shops, homemade dairy and bakery products, tailoring, knitting, agriculture and livestock rearing. Over a period of time these economic activities lead to building savings and assets for survival and improvement of lives.

Our Income Generation Programme is there to empower families in countries like Bangladesh, Pakistan, East Africa region and Palestine where the economic opportunities for vulnerable families are decreasing due to lack of skills and resources available for them.

Many people in developing countries have the skills and enthusiasm to generate an income for themselves, yet lack the opportunity to put it into practice, we believe in empowering people to help themselves. Inspired by our faith, we see the wealth given by God as something that all human beings have a right to and we strive to give people access to sustainable ways of supporting themselves and their communities

Helping People to Work their Own Way Out of Poverty

Many people in developing countries have the skills and enthusiasm to generate an income for themselves, yet lack the opportunity to put it into practice.

At the WELL foundation, we believe in empowering people to help themselves. Inspired by our faith, we see the wealth given by God as something that all human beings have a right to and we strive to give people access to sustainable ways of supporting themselves and their communities.

Since 2008, the WELL foundation has been working globally to support people in accessing work and education.

Our livelihoods projects cater to the specific needs of the communities that we work with and can range from anything to providing apprenticeships to young people, to the distribution of crops and equipment to farming families.

Many people in developing countries have the skills and enthusiasm to generate an income for themselves, yet lack the opportunity to put it into practice.
